Vipasana Meditation Centre in Tiruvannamalai is one of the numerous centres worldwide dedicated in teaching of Vipasana Meditation as taught by S N Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin. This centre is located in a rural village in Chengalpattu district of Tamilnadu.

Over the years Vipasanacentre has faced a lot of drought issues majorly during summers when there is high demand of participants enrolling for their meditation programs, the owners of vipsanacentre have managed to keep the campus eco-friendly through several mud construction and adopting natural water treatment techniques. However, due to lack of rainfall, rocky terrain conditions and lack of efficient wells they faced water scarcity for many years.

Despite spending enormous money on various consultancies and geologists, they failed to obtain a sustainable water solution for their campus parallelly the water scarcity issues began to scale with the rise in demand. The founders of Vipasana Meditation Centre Tiruvannamalai later approached Nansey Restoration LLP to help restore the water situation.

The Vipasana campus spreads for around 12 acres and the majority of the area is hard rock which leads to large runoff and minimal or no percolation of water. Water management experts at Nansey analyzed the geological and environmental conditions of the campus, after several months of site investigation and planning Nansey and team came up with a plan to focus more on shallow aquifers and their efficient recharge and also re-designing their entire storm water drain system. The aim was to maximize the recharge of aquifers through the best possible locations for the recharge pits. The pits were constructed in all the critical zones throughout the campus

The Owners of the Vipasana Meditation Centre were impressed by the quality of work, cost-effectiveness of the project and the sustainable manner of planning Nansey and Team have adopted without causing disruption to their Vipasana programs nor the existing campus.

After the first rains the campus showed positive results as the recharge pits were effective in recharging the aquifers and wells, after a year the campus started benefitting more and  more with adequate supply of water from their wells.

Few years later, Nansey Restoration were contacted by the Owners of Vipasana Centre and this time they had water excess issues from their wells, caused due to the effectiveness of the previously built water recharging pits, a plan to discharge this excess water for the same without causing water logging was prepared and executed on 4 acres of land. Till date the campus has not faced water scarcity related issues and the owners are completely satisfied by the sustainable water management plan executed by Water experts at Nansey Restoration LLP.

Vipasana Centre Tiruvannamalai is one of such quality works executed by Nansey where the campus was turned from water scarce to water positive and water excess back to water positive through scientific and sustainable approach in their planning.
