Paimpozhil lake (under BDO) is situated in Chinnathambipalayam near Thiruchengode. The lake had abundant water a few years ago, but due to immense anthropogenic activities and improper maintenance the water has been tarnished and the green cover surrounding the lake had been exploited affecting the ecosystem.

Wake Our Lake Team along with our consultancy have been involved in this project to desilt the Paimpozhil lake and increase the green cover by planting around 500 palm trees to ultimately restore the ecosystem of the lake.

Karamanur, a lake close to Paimpozhil lake had similar silting issues along with an infestation of an invasive weed (locally known as “Seemai Karuvelam”). The team has tried to revive the lake and is seeking support from the government in lending a hand to bring these lakes completely back to life.
